Indian construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a 250MW data center in India.

The memorandum was signed on February 20 between the conglomerate’s data center subsidiary, Larsen & Toubro Vyoma, and the Government of Gujarat, one of India’s western coastal provinces.

A MoU is a low-stakes agreement that signals interest without being legally binding, and it is a common tool used by Indian state governments and data center operators to raise the public profile of a deal.

Details about the facility are sparse and scattered.

Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Harsh Sanghavi wrote on X that the campus could receive Rs 250 billion ($2.8bn) in investment, and Gujarat-based publication The Blunt Times reports that the campus could be operational by 2028, but the source of this information is unknown.

Larsen & Toubro Vyoma was previously known as Larsen & Toubro Cloudfiniti before being rebranded last November.

The subsidiary is targeting the construction of over 200MW of capacity across India. It currently has two live data centers – a 2MW facility in Navi Mumbai, and a 30MW facility in Chennai – and two others in development, according to its 2025 annual review.
