The company identified an issue at 12:59 UTC, sharing a statement that "engineering teams are actively investigating the issue."

By 13:56 UTC, Big Blue had commenced "mitigation steps," and by 14:58 UTC, the issue was resolved.

Regions impacted by the issue included Osaka and Tokyo, Japan; Sao Paulo, Brazil; London, UK; Dallas, US; Montreal and Toronto, Canada; Madrid, Spain; Frankfurt, Germany; and Sydney, Australia.

The incident report said of the impact: "Customers may experience service outages, degraded performance, or inability to access IBM Cloud services."

DCD has contacted IBM for more information about the cause of the outage.

IBM Cloud also suffered outages in May and June, which saw customers struggle to log onto the platform.

The company recently published its second-quarter financial results, with a total revenue of $17 billion, up five percent year over year. The company's Mainframe offering outperformed all others with the launch of its new IBM z17 system, seeing revenue jump by 67 percent. Despite this, software revenue failed to meet analyst estimates.
