An unnamed hyperscaler has signed a 20-year lease for 50MW of Goodman's Tsukuba Tech Central data center, the Australian real estate firm announced on Monday 17 August.

Goodman also said that TKO05 - which constitutes the first phase of a 1GW development - would be ready for service in early 2028.

The firm acquired the 45-hectare land parcel in Tsukuba City - around 50km northeast of Tokyo - from the local government back in 2022, and announced that it would develop a 1GW data center on the parcel in January 2024.

Globally, Goodman says it has a 6.4GW power bank across 16 metropolitan cities. This includes 700MW of stabilized assets delivered and 400MW in development in supply-constrained markets. The company is currently working on LAX01 Vernon in Los Angeles, HK10 in Hong Kong, and AMS01 in Amsterdam.

The Goodman Business Park in Inzai, Chiba, Greater Tokyo, is home to more than 300MW of data center developments.

In May, Goodman was also appointed the lead development partner for a potential data center campus in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
