Data center service provider HostDime has suffered downtime at its London, UK, data center due to a contractual dispute with its colocation provider.

The company provides bare-metal, cloud, and colocation services to its customers from several data centers, many of which it leases from other colocation providers, as is the case for the company's UK location.

According to a service update report from VPSDime – a VPS hosting company that used the HostDime UK location – the downtime was the result of a contractual dispute between HostDime and its unnamed provider.

HostDime confirmed issues at the site on March 18, posting on X that it was "aware of the reported issues at our UK facility" and was working to fix them as soon as possible.

However, on March 20, when no resolution had been found, VPSDime provided clarity on the situation.

"To provide full transparency, we want to clarify how our London location operates. We use HostDime as our upstream infrastructure provider in the UK. HostDime, in turn, utilizes data center space and network services from a separate, overarching facility operator...

"After relentlessly pressing HostDime for answers, they have finally disclosed the truth behind this extended downtime. HostDime is currently engaged in a contractual dispute with the overarching data center facility. Because of this dispute, the facility operator abruptly shut off all power and network access to the server cages. HostDime has informed us that they have tried to reach an agreement with the facility operator over the past 24 hours with no success."

HostDime's provided statement to VPSDime was as follows: "HostDime is now progressing forward with migrating services to a new infrastructure vendor within the UK. As this plan progresses, we expect to be able to provide an ETA and will send that out in a subsequent update. At this time, many factors with the previous vendor are still in effect and can obfuscate an accurate timeline, but we remain committed to expediting a resolution. Once we have cleared these hurdles, an ETA for the move and restoration of services will be able to be provided."

However, VPSDime stated on March 21 that the move had not commenced, as "despite their ongoing assurances throughout the afternoon, the overarching facility operator was actually denying them access to the building until at least Monday." VPSDime had instead turned to an "alternative, stable UK data center" to bring its own services back online. On March 23, VPSDime had "secured and extracted our physical servers," suggesting HostDime had finally been able to access the facility.

According to Cloudflare Radar, HostDime's announced IP address space has plummeted since March 18, and has yet to improve.

DCD has reached out to HostDime regarding the situation to request clarity, but has yet to receive a response.

According to a Companies House filing, HostDime's UK business was struck off on February 10, 2026, and dissolved on February 17, 2026.

The company was previously a customer of the Custodian data center in Kent, UK, but Custodian confirmed to DCD that HostDime exited its facility in 2022 and that the two had never had a dispute. HostDime's website lists the address of its current UK data center as 1 Murifield Crescent, London, E14 9SZ, United Kingdom, the same as a Digital Realty data center.

DCD contacted Digital Realty for comment regarding the alleged dispute, confirmation that it is the data center provider, and whether it is linked to HostDime's removal from Companies House.

In response, the colocation company said: "Digital Realty does not comment on specific customer relationships, but it can confirm that services are provided and can be terminated in accordance with contractual terms."
