GoTo Group has successfully moved its on-demand services systems to Tencent Cloud as part of its multi-year cloud migration project.

The provider of ride-hailing and delivery services in Indonesia has migrated the workloads to Tencent's Jakarta, Indonesia, data center, which involved moving more than 1,000 microservices.

According to the companies, this phase alone took eight months of preparation, but just under five hours to actually migrate across.

The systems were transferred "live" between the data centers and servers, and more than 10 different types of databases were migrated.

GoTo Group signed two five-year contracts with Tencent and Alibaba in September 2024 that would see the company migrating to their cloud platforms.

Due to the scale of the project, Tencent later said it would invest $500 million in establishing a third data center in Indonesia, spread over the next three years. The third availability zone has now been established.
