Google has signed on as a customer of SpaceX.

As per a regulatory filing made by SpaceX on June 5, Google will lease approximately 110,000 GPUs, CPUs, memory, and other related components from SpaceX for $920 million per month.

The contract will run from October 2026 to June 2029, and capacity will ramp up through September for a reduced fee. The full contract would total around $30 billion throughout that period.

According to the filing, if SpaceX fails to deliver the GPUs by the end of September, "then following a one-month grace period, Google may immediately terminate the agreement or accept the number of GPUs provided with a corresponding pro rata reduction in the monthly fees."

After December 31, 2026, either party can cancel the contract with 90 days' notice.

A Google spokesperson said the agreement was signed “to ensure we have bridge capacity to meet surging customer demand for our agent platform, Gemini Enterprise, which has been even higher than we expected.”

This is SpaceX's second major compute capacity agreement of late. In May 2026, the company revealed in its IPO filing that Anthropic had signed an agreement to lease $1.25bn of AI compute monthly from its xAI data centers for the next three years.

The company's xAI subsidiary was originally focused on developing its own LLM - Grok - and used the compute capacity at its Colossus data center in Memphis, Tennessee, internally.

This seems to have taken a turn, however, with CEO Elon Musk revealing after the Anthropic deal that the company was actively seeking more data center compute customers.

Alongside the first Colossus data center, xAI is developing Colossus 2. It acquired the land last March, and the data center came online in January. Despite Musk claiming it offered 1GW of capacity at launch, satellite imagery taken in January reportedly showed it had cooling equipment installed capable of managing 350MW.

How much remaining capacity at the xAI data centers is reserved for Grok is unclear.

Earlier this year, Musk combined SpaceX with xAI, his AI start-up that has developed the Grok chatbot and built a cluster of data centers in Memphis. xAI, in turn, owns social media platform X, and together the companies could be valued at more than $1 trillion when they debut on the stock market.

The IPO is currently expected to go live on June 12.
