Google is expanding its footprint in Texas and leasing two large warehouse spaces in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The company is reportedly leasing a combined 2.1 million at sites in Fort Worth and Northlake, likely for data center use.
Google leases 1.1 million sq ft in Fort Worth
CoStar reports Google has leased a 1.1 million-square-foot warehouse in the Silver Creek Business Park in Fort Worth, Tarrant County.
The property, at 9449 Silver Creek Road, is within the 520-acre business park developed by Majestic Realty. Majestic built the facility last year.
The companies declined to comment to the publication.
The Silver Creek Business Park will encompass 6.5 million square feet at full build-out across around a dozen buildings.
Founded in 1948, Majestic Realty Co. is a large privately-held developer and owner of master-planned business parks in the US. Majestic's portfolio totals around 90 million square feet across industrial, office, and retail space, as well as sports, entertainment, and hospitality projects.
Google leases in Northlake
Google has also reportedly signed a lease for more than 1 million square feet of space between two buildings in the Northlake 35 Logistics Park in Denton County.
The estimated $20.2 million project is registered as Project Beast (Buildings 1 and 2) in Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filings – though Google’s name isn’t attached to the application. The first phase of that project – located at 3400 Catherine Court – is expected to be completed and fully fit out in 2026, according to the filing.
Developed by Falcon Commercial Development and Clarion Partners, ground was broken on the first phase of the 249-acre, 2.6 million-square-foot development in September 2021. The site will total six buildings at full build-out.
Cody Gibbs, director of market analytics for CoStar, told BizJournal: "These two locations are anticipated to house data center materials as the company moves forward with plans to expand its existing data center campuses in Midlothian and Red Oak.”
Google first built a data center in the Midlothian area of Dallas, Texas, in 2019 and launched a Texas cloud region in Dallas in June 2022. The company is also developing a second Texas campus in the Red Oak area of Dallas.
Google recently announced a $1bn investment plan to expand its Dallas data centers, saying it would expand the two sites with additional buildings.
