Frost Bank, the banking, investments and insurance subsidiary of Cullen/Frost Bankers Inc., a financial holding company headquartered in San Antonio, has announced plans to construct a $50 million data and information technology center in Westover Hills on the city's Northwest Side.
The 71,013-square-foot Frost Datacenter will cover approximately 10 acres of a 25-acre plot that Frost owns in the area.
The new center will give Frost Bank room to accommodate company growth, provide additional services to customers and the capacity to expand to meet future data and information technology needs. It will have 168 parking spaces once completed.
Work on Frost's new center is currently under way with the project slated for completion in the fourth quarter of 2009. Frost Bank has been working on the datacenter for the past three years.
The new datacenter will feature multiple safeguards, such as redundant electrical service from two separate CPS substations and telecommunications service from two separate AT&T; facilities. These back-up systems will be in place to minimize the possibility of downtime of data operations. The generators will provide uninterrupted power to insure minimal interruptions. In addition, certain areas of the center have been designed to withstand a direct hit by a severe tornado, with speeds of up to 206 miles per hour reports the San Antonio Business Journal.
