Frontier Airlines will offer Starlink's WiFi Internet service on board its aircraft next year.

The US airline carrier didn't give a specific date for its launch, but confirmed that the company plans to roll out its first Starlink-equipped aircraft in early 2027.

The agreement isn't just in-flight, as SpaceX subsidiary Starlink will also provide gate-to-gate connectivity for Frontier’s pilots, flight attendants, maintenance teams, and ground operations.

Frontier is part of the Indigo Partners LLC alliance that also includes airlines Wizz Air (Europe), Volaris (Mexico), JetSMART (South America), and Cebu Pacific (Philippines).

Indigo expects to install Starlink on more than 1,000 aircraft across its Indigo portfolio.

"We're continuing to invest in the products and services that matter most to our customers," said Jimmy Dempsey, CEO, Frontier Airlines. "Starlink transforms the onboard experience, giving customers the flexibility to work, stream, browse, and stay connected throughout their journey."

For Starlink, which has more than 10,000 satellites in orbit, Frontier becomes the latest US airline operator the company has partnered with. In May, Starlink secured a deal to provide its satellite broadband Internet service across more than 500 narrowbody American Airlines aircraft from early next year.

Other partnerships with US airlines include United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines.

SpaceX set up a dedicated division for its in-flight connectivity service in 2022 called Starlink Aviation. The company claims that its in-flight WiFi offers latency of less than 99ms, and speeds of up to 500Mbps.
