A former Scotiabank office and data center is up for sale in Ontario, Canada.

Located at 10-52 Wright Boulevard in Stratford, the facility could become the new home of the Stratford Police Service, as per a report from Stratford Today.

According to listings, the facility is up for sale for CA$14 million (US$10.08m), and comes with 4.08 acres of land.

It has a total floorspace of 100,625 sq ft (9,350 sqm), spread across two stories, and was used by the bank as both office space and as a data center. It comes with 1,200 amps of power, supported by a 3,600-liter on-site generator that can keep the building supported for up to 72 hours.

Scotiabank - also known as The Bank of Nova Scotia - ceased using the location in December 2024, relocating to an alternative facility in Mississauga, Ontario. The building has been up for sale for more than a year at the time of writing.

The facility now seems set to be repurposed for the local police service, with the city revealing it plans to "execute a letter of intent with the National Trust Company and the Bank of Nova Scotia for the potential purchase of the former Scotiabank building and property located at 10-52 Wright Boulevard," according to city council meeting documents.

In discussing the facility's suitability for a new police headquarters, Councilor Harjinder Nijjar noted that a greenfield build could cost as much as CA$30-40 million (US$21.6-28.8m), and that the Scotiabank building is ideal because it was "built for a data center."

"It was built to handle that type of environment. Yeah, there will need to be some modifications, but not to the extreme of building a new building."

Stratford is located in Southwest Ontario, west of Toronto. Most of Ontario's data centers are located in and around Toronto. Operators include Digital Realty, Cologix, Telehouse, Hut 8, and Csquare, among others.
