Equinix plans to expand its WA1 data center in Warsaw, Poland.

The company will add space for 150 new racks at the data center, bringing the total white space at the facility to 1,440 sq m (15,500 sq ft).

Neighborhood expansion

According to Equinix's spec sheet, WA1 currently has around 927 sq m (9,900 sq ft) of colocation space and is built in a 42-story Marriot skyscraper.

“Our data centers in Poland play an important role in the global Equinix infrastructure," Robert Busz, Equinix's Poland MD, said. "New investments - such as the current modernization and expansion of WA1 - allow us to better respond to the needs of local and international customers. By providing direct and secure connections to many global cloud service providers, our WA1 data center gives customers the ability to build strategic hybrid multi-cloud environments.”

The expansion follows Equinix’s opening of WA3 back in March. The cost of WA3 totaled around €31m ($34m at the time) and covers 1,400 sq m and includes 475 racks. WA3 is also undergoing expansion. Once the data center is built out, the facility will include more than 3,500 sq m (38,000 sq ft) of colocation space, with capacity for approximately 1,200 cabinets.
