Equinix has announced the completion of the construction of Phase 3 expansion of its AM7 facility in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The expansion at the company’s AM7 International Business Exchange in Amsterdam adds 4,125 square meters (44,400 sq ft) and 1,420 cabinet equivalents for a total capacity of 11,600 sq m (124,800 sq ft).

“Amsterdam is one of Europe's most cloud-dense and highly connected cities, offering low-latency connectivity to the rest of the world. Equinix’s AM7 is a state-of-the-art data center and a key location in Europe,” said Michiel Eielts, managing director, The Netherlands, Equinix.

“We have worked to ensure it supports large numbers of networks, cloud and service providers, in a sustainable and energy-efficient way. AM7 is at the core of the Equinix Southeast campus, which forms an important hub in the international digital infrastructure that businesses need today.”

The $63 million dollar investment for this expansion takes Equinix’s total investment in its Amsterdam facilities to more than $1 billion.

Equinix has been busy in 2021; the company has announced a number of hyperscale facilities in Europe and Asia; a new facility in Bordeaux, and expansions in Sydney, Helsinki, and Sao Paulo.
