A consortium led by IT infrastructure provider Enigma SOI has won a contract worth PLN 910.4 million ($250m) to supply data center equipment to Poland’s Armed Forces Cyberspace Resource Center.

Other firms in the consortium include Siltec, API Smart, and Atende.

Split into two parts, the overall agreement covers the supply of container data center modules, vehicle-based data centers, and personnel training to the Polish military.

DCD has approached Enigma SOI for comment.

The containerized data center modules must, according to a statement published by Enigma SOI, “meet the requirements for devices designed to securely store sensitive data and protect it against electromagnetic radiation and rapid rise in impulse (RRI) emissions.” Warranty support for all equipment supplied under the agreement will be provided until 2031.

The Armed Forces Cyberspace Resource Center’s agreement with the consortium follows its April signing of four other contracts for new equipment, according to CRN.pl, including a post-quantum IP encryptor from Enigma and a secure data exchange system from the defense IT firm Filbico.

These are among 40 contracts worth an estimated PLN 100 billion ($27.3bn) expected to be signed by the Polish government and funded by the EU’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) initiative. A €150 billion ($174bn) defence fund financed by long-term loans, SAFE is designed to spur European rearmament in response to Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Poland is its largest beneficiary, receiving its first payment of €6.6 billion ($7.6bn) late last month.

Founded in 1993 and headquartered in the Polish capital, Warsaw, Enigma SOI specialises in supplying IT services and equipment for government and defence applications, as well as managing public data center infrastructure.

Previous contracts in the latter area, according to CyberDefense24.pl, include two agreements with Poland’s Ministry of Finance and its Ministry of Justice to offload and manage key IT functionalities from internal servers to external data centers.
