DigitalBridge said to be seeking investors in Scala – Scala Data Centers

Citing people with knowledge of the matter, Bloomberg reports DigitalBridge is working with an adviser to solicit interest in Sao Paulo-based Scala, which could fetch $2 billion or more in a transaction.

DigitalBridge declined to comment to the publication.

Founded in 2020 after DigitalBridge acquired facilities from Brazilian IT firm UOL Diveo, Scala has invested around $1.6 billion in hyperscale data centers across Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Colombia.

The company expects its data center portfolio to reach 500MW over the next five years, and recently announced plans for a gigawatt-scale campus in Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil.

The company recently secured $500 million in financing from Coatue and IMCO.

A partial equity sale of Scala would be in keeping with DigitalBridge's recent deals for its other data center units. In the last 18 months, DigitalBridge has secured external investment for Vantage, DataBank, and Switch.
