Finnish tower operator Digita Oy said it plans to make a “significant investment in its data center business” and build a new data center in Helsinki.

The company runs a portfolio of tower sites to support TV and radio broadcasters and telecom mobile network operators, but also provides colocation services from its facilities; offering 364 sq m out of the Pasila Broadcasting Tower on the media campus of national broadcaster Yleisradio Oy.

The new data center, due for completion by 2023, will be located in the immediate vicinity of the company’s current data center facilities.

“Demand for Digita’s data center services has remained strong, and we have now decided to expand our business by building new facilities in the Pasila telecommunications cluster. The facilities will be completed in early 2023," said Digita COO Markus Ala-Hautala. “Our customers appreciate the location of our data centers at the epicenter of data communications, as well as our customer-oriented, reliable, and agile way of operating. We are extremely pleased to be able to offer facilities to new operators."

2021 has seen Digita acquire Caruna’s telecommunication masts and Cinia’s tower business.
