A data center simulator game – aptly named “Data Center” – where you can “build, cable, and grow a living data center,” is set to release later next month.
Players will have to “build, cable, and grow a living data center from the group up,” according to the game’s description on Steam.
They will also have to manage the requirements and capacity targets of prospective customers, make investment decisions, and fix broken equipment.
Unlike other kinds of business simulator-style games which require players to manage several stores and oversee business strategy with an eye to expansion, Data Center’s primary focus is on the “tactile” process of designing and building a data center.
This makes it more similar to games where players are in charge of one individual store or process, like Papa’s Pizzeria or Supermarket Simulator.
The game also represents customer traffic as “colored packet-balls rolling along your cables, revealing bottlenecks, [and] idle links.”
The game is the solo project of Czechia-based video game developer Vaclav Novak, otherwise known as Waseku.
He has developed other games, including the gladiator manager simulator game Crixus: Life of Free Gladiator; a wrecking ball crane operator simulator game called Wrecking Ball; and an indoor cycling game.
The planned release date of the game is March 31, and a demo of the game is currently available on Steam.
