South Korean conglomerate LG is set to deploy Nvidia-based GPU hardware to support its AI efforts.

As part of a series of announcements around South Korea this week, Nvidia said it was partnering with LG Group to build an AI factory to “accelerate LG Group’s next wave of AI-driven businesses,” spanning robotics, autonomous driving, data center technologies and GPU cloud services.

Nvidia said LG Uplus plans to build a large-scale AI data center capable of accommodating the latest Nvidia GPUs, but didn’t share details.

The deployment will provide LG Group with computing infrastructure to train, simulate, validate, and deploy AI-based applications across its key businesses.

Nvidia hardware and software are powering several LG offerings, including those from LG Electronics, LG Innotek, LG AI Research, and LG CNS.

As well as robotics and automotive efforts, LG Energy Solution plans to collaborate with Nvidia on emerging 800V DC data center energy solutions

Nvidia also said LG CNS plans to build AI factories powered by the chip giant's GPUs and based on its DSX reference platform.

LG Uplus, LG’s telecoms unit, currently operates multiple colocation data centers — including three in southern Seoul and one in Anyang, to the south of the capital. The company is developing a 200MW data center in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, that is due live in 2027.

LG’s CNS AI and cloud computing segment is also developing a new containerized data center offering and plans to build a 60MW facility in Busan.
