DartPoints has acquired the building where it operates a data center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Citing local property records, the Advocate and Greater Baton Rouge Business Report this week said DartPoints Operating Company LLC had acquired a 7.5-acre property within the Bon Carre Technology Park.
The company purchased the roughly 89,000 sq ft (8,268 sqm) property - which houses a DartPoints data center - from South Carolina-based EdgePWR LLC for $9.4 million.
Stirling Properties brokered the deal for the seller, while CBRE represented the buyer.
DCD has reached out to DartPoints and EdgePWR for comment.
Ben Graham of Stirling Properties told the Daily Report that DartPoints plans to continue operating the facility as a data center.
EdgePWR originally purchased Bon Carré for $8 million in a deal that closed in late 2020 and was filed with the Clerk of Court’s office in February 2021.
DartPoints operates two data centers within the Bon Carre Technology Park: an 86,400 sq ft (8,026 sqm) facility at 7127 Florida Blvd, and a 27,400 sq ft (2,545 sqm) facility at the neighbouring 7139 Florida Blvd. DartPoints took over the facilities after buying local operator Venyu in 2023. Venyu opened its second Baton Rouge facility, BTR2, in 2014.
The 807,000 sq ft (75,000 sqm) technology park is the former Bon Marche Mall site, which closed in the 1990s and was rebranded to a technology park after EdgePWR acquired the site in 2020 for $8 million.
EdgePWR says it is focused on sale-leaseback, acquisitions, and build-to-suit transactions as a partner to data center operators.
Update: Investment fund Nova Infrastructure has purchased a majority stake in US-based data center operator DartPoints from Astra Capital Management. As part of the deal, DartPoints has acquired the underlying real estate of its data centers in Greenville, South Carolina; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Asheville, North Carolina.
On the Baton Rouge purchase, DartPoints provided the following comment from CEO Scott Willis to DCD: “DartPoints’ acquisition of this facility underscores our deep commitment to Baton Rouge and the broader Gulf Coast region. As a long-time operator within the Bon Carre Technology Park, we’re proud to invest in a growing technology corridor that plays a vital role in the region’s digital infrastructure."
He continued: "This purchase expands our presence in Baton Rouge and reinforces our mission to support local economies, create high-quality tech jobs, and contribute to long-term economic development. We’re excited to continue building on the area’s momentum and helping position Baton Rouge as a hub for innovation and connectivity.”
