Damac-backed data center operator Edgnex will invest $2.3bn in a data center in Indonesia.
Located in the nation’s capital Jakarta, the data center will offer 144MW of capacity at completion. The land for the facility was acquired in March 2025, and the company estimates the first phase will be operational by December 2026.
The exact location of the facility was not disclosed. Update: A JLL announcementsaid Damac has acquired a 50,000 sqm site in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, located east of Jakarta.
This will be Edgnex’s second data center in Indonesia. Its first facility, which will offer 19.2MW of capacity at full buildout, is located in Jakarta along MT Haryono. Originally announced in May 2024, the first phase is estimated to be complete by Q3 2026.
Hussain Sajwani, founder of Damac, the Emirati property investor behind Edgnex, said the project "is part of [Damac’s] broader push across SEA, where we have committed over $3bn in digital infrastructure investments to date.”
Indonesia is a fast-growing data center market. Microsoft and Google operate cloud regions in the country, and colo giant Digital Realty recently formed a joint venture with Bersama Digital Infrastructure Asia for an expansion. Most of Indonesia’s data centers are clustered around Jakarta, which is located on the island of Java.
Damac intends to have more than 300MW of operational capacity by 2026, with 55MW to be built in the Middle East by 2025. In January, the company also said it would invest $20bn in American data centers.
Edgnex was established by Damac in 2021. It has a presence in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Greece, Spain, Finland, and Italy.
