CVC DIF has announced the acquisition of American Tower Corporation's Canadian tower business via its portfolio company, Aurora Towers.

The acquisition has seen Aurora Towers buy 255 wireless communication sites across the country.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to CVC DIF, this investment will be made through DIF Infrastructure VIII and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

The deal takes Aurora Towers' total tower portfolio to more than 650 sites across Canada.

“This acquisition is a natural next step in the development of Aurora Towers. The portfolio is highly complementary to Aurora’s existing sites and significantly increases the scale of the platform, while further strengthening its relationships with Canada’s leading wireless operators," said Tom Goossens, partner and co-head of the DIF Infrastructure Funds at CVC DIF.

"We believe the combination creates a stronger independent tower business with the capabilities and scale to support customers as they continue to invest in their networks across Canada.”

American Tower Corporation owns more than 148,000 towers across 20 countries, though it has completed high-profile exits from some markets in the last couple of years, including India, Australia, and New Zealand.
