The US wireless industry association, CTIA (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association), has announced the appointment of Verizon Business CEO and EVP, Kyle Malady, as its new chairman.

Malady begins the role effective immediately, confirmed the CTIA.

He steps up to the role, having previously served as a vice chairman, and replaces outgoing chairman Laurent Therivel of UScellular.

Founded in 1984, CTIA serves as a trade association representing the US wireless communications industry.

“Kyle is an accomplished, well-respected leader in our industry with unique expertise and background in both technology and business. We are fortunate that he is assuming this role during a pivotal time for the wireless industry,” said Ajit Pai, president and CEO, CTIA.

“He is an excellent choice to help guide our Association’s priorities of advancing innovation, security, and connectivity.”

Pai only took over the role as president and CEO in April of this year, replacing Meredith Atwell Barker, who spent 11 years in the role.

Malady has been at the telco for more than 36 years, joining the carrier back in 1989, long before the company became known as Verizon, as it is today.

He's been EVP and CEO for Verizon's Business unit since March 2023. Prior to this, he was president of global networks and technology.
