The project was developed in partnership with Onmine, which helped provide crucial infrastructure, and coordinated the site’s development with ERCOT - the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.

Energized in stages, the site achieved its full power output by the end of July. Compass Mining aims to transition the full 10MW to hosting for its enterprise clients by no later than October 2025.

The company intends to oversee both on-site and remote operations, while Giga Energy - a manufacturer of electrical infrastructure - will provide air-cooled modular data centers to shorten deployment times and enhance scalability.

Karoon Mackenchery, director of hosting services at Compass Mining, emphasized the company’s evolution from hosting to becoming a provider and operator of full-stack mining infrastructure.

"It's the first site where we're not only taking on the day-to-day operations, but also the power pricing risk and revenue responsibility from first self-mining and then customer hosting. Our ability to step into this role is a direct result of the trust we've built with enterprise clients and our success in delivering performance at scale,” stated Mackenchery.

"By securing the site, fast-tracking interconnection, and integrating Giga's advanced air-cooled container product line, we brought 10MW of sustainable capacity online in record time — the first of several Onmine projects energizing this year,” said Ziyad Elgamal, co-CEO of Onmine.

Compass operates mining hardware in some 20 sites across Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Nebraska, Texas, and North Dakota in the US, as well as Manitoba and Ontario in Canada. The company says its capacity totals more than 160MW.

The cryptominer currently lists five sites in Texas on its website.

In July, Compass Mining energized a 4.5MW site in Iowa in collaboration with DIGTB, an industrial developer and manager of real estate assets with energy infrastructure.

In June, Compass expanded its own hosting contract with Soluna by 8MW at Soluna’s Dorothy 1 and Dorothy 2 sites in Texas.
