Microsoft is partnering with Applied Digital's cloud spin-off, ChronoScale, on a 50MW deployment in the US.

The deployment will comprise Nvidia GB300 NVL72 systems and use liquid cooling infrastructure.

The companies have not disclosed the exact location of the deployment. According to ChronoScale's recently filed Annual Report, it currently leases 1.5MW, 5MW, and 7.5MW of capacity from third-party data centers in Minnesota, Utah, and Colorado, respectively.

“This planned 50MW deployment reflects our focus on building AI infrastructure for the density and scale of accelerated computing. By combining Nvidia GB300 NVL72 systems, liquid cooling, and our full-stack infrastructure capabilities, we intend to deliver production-ready AI compute with the performance, reliability, and scalability our customers require.”

For the fiscal year ending May 31, 2026, ChronoScale saw revenue of $71.6 million, down 15 percent from the year prior, which the company said was due to losing a customer in the latter half of the previous fiscal year.

Plans to spin out ChronoScale by Applied Digital were revealed in January 2026. To do so, the company worked with Ekso Bionics Holdings (Ekso) - a company that develops exoskeleton solutions - to combine its cloud unit with Ekso into an AI cloud provider called ChronoScale Corporation. Applied retained around 97 percent ownership of ChronoScale, with Ekso holding the remaining shares. The spin-out was completed on May 5, 2026.

Applied Digital is a data center developer focusing on HPC facilities and cryptomining data centers.

According to its annual report, the company operates the Polaris Forge 1 campus in Ellendale, North Dakota, which has 100MW of IT capacity that came online in October 2025, a second building with 150MW that was partially operational as of May 2026, and a third 150MW data center that is under construction and targeting a 2027 launch date. CoreWeave is a customer at this site.

The company broke ground on Polaris Forge 2 in Harwood, North Dakota, in August 2024, which will have an initial 200MW of capacity that is expected to be fully online by 2027, and is leased by an unnamed US-based investment-grade hyperscaler for 15 years.

Delta Forge 1 is located in a "strategic southern US market" and will offer 300MW. Ground was broken on the project in January 2026, and another hyperscale has signed a 15-year lease for the site. An April investor presentation lists the site in Alexandria, Louisiana.

Polaris Forge 3, meanwhile, will be a 300MW data center campus in a "northern United States region" that is under construction and has been leased, with delivery expected to begin in the second half of 2027.

Delta Forge 2, a 210MW data center campus also in the South, is under construction and is expected to be delivered in 2028.
