China Mobile has confirmed that its CEO He Biao has resigned after less than two years at the helm.

He's resignation was announced by the telco via a stock exchange filing yesterday, noting that He has resigned with immediate effect.

"Mr. He has confirmed that there is no disagreement with the Board and there is no matter relating to his resignation that needs to be brought to the attention of the shareholders of the company," stated China Mobile.

China Mobile didn't name a successor, nor an interim replacement, in its filing.

He was appointed CEO of the Chinese telco giant in May 2024, when he replaced the previous chief, Dong Xin, who took up a role with the country's government.

He has previously worked for China United Network Communications, China Unicom Hong Kong, and China Unicom Online Information Technology.

China Mobile is one of the biggest mobile carriers in the world, serving more than one billion connections. The carrier is comfortably the biggest in China ahead of rivals China Telecom, with 440 million, and China Unicom, which has 346 million.
