Castrol, IT firm Woodman, and advertising company Eole are partnering to promote immersion-cooled data centers in Japan.
The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide next-generation AI data center solutions and improve the operational efficiency of data centers in Japan via immersion cooling.
Castrol will provide the cooling fluids, Woodman will provide system integration and implementation support for data centers, and Eole will leverage its data center development platform and customer network in the Japanese market.
“In Japan, we will promote the introduction of this solution into our data center development pipeline related to our business, and will play a leading role in creating commercial opportunities and developing new businesses by leveraging our network with data center operators, system integrators, and infrastructure investors,” Eole said in its announcement.
The first commercial testing of immersion-cooled infrastructure, hosting Nvidia GPUs, is planned for August 2026.
Founded in 2017, Tokyo-based Woodman provides servers and modular data center offerings.
Eloe offers a number of IT and data services, including its Pipoint advertising business, job boards and recruitment platforms, accommodation booking websites, and GPU server sales.
Castrol has previously signed an MoU with Japanese conglomerate Itochu to promote liquid cooling in Japan.
BP-owned Castrol makes a range of liquid cooling fluids, which it has been marketing to customers for several years. It has installed a modular data center at its R&D center in Oxfordshire, UK, to test and demonstrate the efficacy of its products.
