US data center firm Carrier Connect Data Solutions is leasing a data center around Atlanta, Georgia.

The TSXV-listed firm announced this week that it has signed a long-term lease on a 4MW data center in Alpharetta, Georgia.

Located on 20 acres at 1001 Windward Concourse, the facility totals 184,555 sq ft (17,145 sqm) of rentable space. The data center is described as “fully built out and customer move-in ready.”

The lease was signed through Carrier's wholly owned subsidiary, Purecolo, and increases the company's total capacity under management to 11.7MW. The 15.5-year contract includes two five-year renewal options.

Built in 1989 and now owned by Mapletree Industrial Trust, the two-story 1001 Windward Concourse was previously leased to General Electric (GE) and operated by GE Digital, the company’s software and services division that is now part of GE Vernova.

Carrier said the facility has historically received 10MW of utility power, providing a potential pathway to expand its capacity further, subject to Georgia Power's approval and customer demand.

Mark Binns, Carrier Connect CEO, called the deal a “major milestone” for the company and “one of the most significant steps forward” in the execution of its growth strategy.

"In a single transaction, we have expanded our power capacity under management by more than 50 percent, secured a substantial, fully built-out data center in the Atlanta metropolitan market, and established a pathway to potentially grow this facility from 4MW to 10MW,” he said. "What makes this opportunity particularly compelling is that we are not starting with undeveloped land or embarking on a lengthy ground-up construction process. We are adding an existing, customer-ready facility to our platform, with meaningful infrastructure already in place.”

Launched in 2019, Carrier initially operated a small presence for a handful of clients in Canada within the Spencer Building carrier hotel at Harbour Centre in Vancouver, before moving to a larger space at 200 Burrard in 2022 and closing the Spencer Building operation.

The operator now describes itself as a “data center company on a mission to roll up Tier II/III data centers internationally that specialize in delivering colocation,” and has been acquiring a number of assets in the last year.

Carrier Connect acquired PureColo in December 2025 and operates data centers across Vancouver, Ottawa, and St. John in Canada; Perth, Australia; and Rochester, New York.

Earlier this year, Carrier Connect acquired Vancouver-based network connectivity firm Morewave.

1001 Windward was originally built as a corporate data facility for Continental Telephone (aka ConTel, later bought by GTE and now part of Verizon). GE bought the property in 1991 to house its North American operations, with the site described as being GE’s largest data center at one point.

Carter Validus acquired the facility from GE for $50 million in a 2014 sale-leaseback deal. Carter Validus then sold its entire data center portfolio to Mapletree in 2021 as part of a pivot to focus on healthcare real estate. Mapletree had previously said GE was set to lease the facility until September 2025.
