Malaysian pre-fab data center firm BrightRay is set to work on its first US project.
The company this week announced it has entered into a letter of intent (LOI) with an unnamed US-based "mission-critical infrastructure partner" for a planned 10MW AI data center project in Indiana.
Full details haven't been shared, but the project site is located somewhere in Indiana. Under the LOI, the unnamed partner intends to engage Brightray to deploy a 10MW prefabricated data center solution.
The single-story data center is set to host Nvidia’s GB300 hardware, with the project delivered within 12 months of a definitive contract.
The LOI is Brightray's first signed in the United States. The firm said it “marks an important step in its expansion into the world's largest data center market.”
The LOI will expire in 12 months, though the US company reportedly aims to issue a purchase order next month.
Bin Wang, founder of Brightray, said: "Entering the US market is an important step in Brightray's international development. The US has enormous data center demand, and customers face real pressure to turn their AI investments into usable computing power as quickly as possible. Our entry point is delivery: with Brightray prefabricated data center solution, we move more of the work into the factory and run manufacturing in parallel with on-site works, with the aim of shortening the delivery period for this project to within one year."
BrightRay (aka BrightRay Science Inc.) has previously developed a data center in Johor, Malaysia. The firm is also set to deliver a 40MW project alongside a partner in Macau.
Nasdaq-listed BUUU Group Limited took a majority stake in BrightRay over the summer.
Wang added: "We look forward to working further with our partner on the technical solution and implementation arrangements and to building delivery experience in the US market through this 10MW project. Addressing the power, cooling, and space requirements of next-generation AI equipment, we aim to bring the efficiency advantages of our prefabricated data center solution to the project and lay the foundation for the further expansion of our US business."
