Neutral host network provider Boldyn Networks has secured a network connectivity contract with Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire FC.

The contract will see Boldyn deploy a future-ready converged network at Fire's new stadium, McDonald's Park, which is set to open in 2028.

Boldyn will deliver McDonald's Park, which will be a soccer-specific stadium, with a neutral host 5G distributed antenna system (DAS). This DAS will support all major wireless carriers.

The company has carried out similar projects for a number of other MLS teams, including at Nu Stadium, the new home of Inter Miami CF, and BMO Stadium in LA, which plays host to LAFC. The company will also support connectivity at New York City FC's upcoming stadium, Etihad Park.

Boldyn will also provide WiFi at the venue, which will have a capacity of 22,000, across seating areas, concourses, and outdoors. Converged fiber will also be deployed to support connectivity at the venue, including for broadcast operations, security systems, and fan-facing digital services.

The company notes that its architecture is designed to support 5G, WiFi 7, IoT, and "emerging fan engagement technologies."

The stadium is sponsored by American fast food giant McDonald's, in what is the company's first-ever naming rights partnership for a major professional sports stadium in the US.

Boldyn specializes in deploying network infrastructure for major transport systems, airports, stadiums, campuses, and military bases, to industrial hubs and smart cities. The company notably struck an agreement earlier this year to undertake a major connectivity upgrade at the Silverstone race track, where the British F1 Grand Prix is hosted.

Some of Boldyn's transport network projects include working with Transport for London to provide 5G-ready mobile coverage across the entire London Underground network. Boldyn has also provided coverage upgrades in New York on the MTA subway, San Francisco for the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), and also in Rome, Italy.
