Indonesia’s largest colo provider, BDx Indonesia, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with national electrical distributor, PT PLN, for 30MVA of power for its Indonesian operations.
The PPA will be used to power BDx’s data centers across the country, particularly its CGK3A Campus in South Jakarta and the 500 MW CGK4 AI Campus in Jatiluhur, which is expected to be powered solely by renewable energy. The length of the PPA was not disclosed.
"Reliable, scalable power from PLN is the backbone of AI and digital innovation across the country. This partnership goes beyond power—it's about building the foundation for Asia's digital future," said Agus Hartono Wijaya, president director of BDx Indonesia. "Indonesia is emerging as a digital powerhouse, and with PLN's support, we're scaling smarter, greener, and faster to meet the region's growing demands for AI, sustainability, and digital sovereignty."
It is unclear where the power will be derived from. PLN operates a robust portfolio of renewable assets, including terrestrial and floating solar. According to its website, as of June 2024, the company’s renewable arm had 2.145GW of operational renewable power, with a further 895MW under construction.
"This partnership reflects the trust and confidence placed in PLN as a reliable energy provider for the digital sector," said Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin, general manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya. "We are proud to support the growth of Indonesia's data center industry with dependable and sustainable energy solutions."
BDx Indonesia is the Indonesian subsidiary of BDx Data Centers. The company has a broad range of data centers and edge facilities across the APAC region, including Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Taiwan.
It completed phase one of its 500MW CGK4 campus in July of last year, with the initial phase offering 70MW across (44,670 sq ft) of white space. According to BDx, the data center is one of the first in Indonesia to have Nvidia DGX-Ready certification.
It broke ground on the CGK3A data center the year prior. The data center offers around 15MW of capacity spanning 14,127 sqm (152,000 sq ft), representing a total investment value of $150 million.
