Big Data Exchange (BDx) Indonesia has broken ground on a new data center, CGK3A, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

According to the company, CGK3A will offer 15MW of capacity, meet Tier III standards, and have a ‘sustainable’ below-average PUE.

The CGK3A colocation data center will be located in the TB Simatupang area of South Jakarta, spanning 14,127 sqm (152,000 sq ft), with a total investment value of $150 million.

The company’s commercial director Avnish Patankar claims that the facility will feature the “latest in data center technology, including advanced cooling systems and robust security measures, to ensure the highest levels of performance and protection for our clients' valuable data.”

In a LinkedIn post, Patankar said: “This marks a major milestone in our mission to provide reliable and secure data solutions for our clients in the Asia-Pacific region.”

The data center is anticipated to be operational by the end of 2023 and will complement the company's four existing facilities in Indonesia.

BDx Indonesia is the result of a joint venture worth $300 million with BDx, Indosat Ooredoo, and Lintasarta to provide data centers to Indonesia in May 2022 after the company acquired Ooredoo’s data center business and three Jakarta data centers.

In November of 2022, the company announced plans for a 100MW Jakarta data center campus called CGK5. The data center will be built on 12 acres of land in the Suryacipta City of Industry, an industrial estate just to the East of Jakarta in Karawang.
