Amazon Web Services (AWS) has been named a strategic cloud provider for Siemens Energy as part of an expanded partnership focused on data center energy infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Siemens Energy will use AWS cloud and AI services to modernize operations across manufacturing, supply chain, and plant management. The deployment includes Amazon Bedrock for generative AI and agentic workflows, Amazon SageMaker for machine learning model development, and AWS IoT SiteWise for industrial data collection and monitoring.

The tools will support use cases such as smart manufacturing, predictive maintenance, resource optimization, and autonomous plant operations, with the overall goal of improving efficiency and scalability.

The partnership also expands collaboration on energy infrastructure supporting AWS data centers. Siemens Energy will continue to provide “turnkey substation” solutions to connect AWS data centers to the grid, while both companies explore additional technologies to meet rising power demand.

Those efforts include potential deployments of gigawatt-scale power generation, microgrids, sustainable backup power systems, and grid technologies designed to maintain load stability. Siemens Energy will also use AWS to improve delivery management for infrastructure projects, aiming to streamline timelines and ensure consistent project execution.

“Our strategic collaboration with AWS accelerates our efficiency and digital transformation while we deliver stable, reliable and more sustainable infrastructure that gets power to the right place at the right time,” Frederik Doye, SVP of Siemens Energy in Europe, explained in a statement.

The expanded agreement builds on existing work between the companies, including Siemens Energy’s IoT Connected Factory platform, which runs on AWS and connects operational technology systems with IT infrastructure for real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance.

AWS said the platform has helped improve manufacturing efficiency and productivity using its cloud infrastructure.
