Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Saudi Arabia's Humain have expanded their partnership to include the deployment of some 150,000 AI chips.

The chips will be deployed at an "AI Zone" in Riyadh, the development of which AWS and Humain agreed upon in May 2025, pledging around $5bn in investment.

The AI chips will include Nvidia GB300s and AWS' Trainium AI chips, and will be used for both training and inference workloads. The proportion of each has not been stated.

In addition to the deployment, Humain has made AWS its "preferred AI partner" globally.

It has been a busy week for Humain. The company has also revealed plans to build a 500MW data center in Saudi Arabia in partnership with xAI, and has teamed up with AMD and Cisco for a joint venture that will establish 1GW of AI infrastructure in the kingdom.

AWS launched a CloudFront Edge location in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, at the start of this year. In March 2024, it revealed that it hoped to have a cloud region launched in the country in 2026, along with plans to invest more than $5.3 billion over the longer term.
