Atos has been awarded a £58 million ($78.48m) IT services contract with the UK's Ministry of Justice (MOJ).

Set to last for four years, the contract will see Atos providing platform and legacy services to the government department.

The services provided by the company will further include identity access management, technical infrastructure spanning centralized and distributed platform environments, storage, backup and recovery, and data center services.

The MOJ is a customer of Crown Hosting Data Centres, having signed a five-year, £5 million contract in October 2022. Crown Hosting Data Centres is a joint venture by Ark and the Cabinet Office to provide colocation services to public sector bodies and government departments.

The department has also signed cloud computing contracts with US hyperscalers. In 2021, the MOJ awarded a £23.8 million ($33.1m) hosting deal with Amazon Web Services, which was set to expire in April 2024.

October 2024 saw Oracle winning four contracts with the UK government, including the MOJ, as part of the "Synergy Programme."

Atos is a France-based IT vendor and provides on-premises and cloud infrastructure, as well as a host of other IT services. The company has been struggling to bring its debts under control for years. The company appointed its seventh CEO in three years in October 2024.

Atos completed a financial restructuring in 2024 and last month set out its four-year strategic transformation plan to return the Company to sustainable growth and improved profitability.

The French government launched a bid in late 2024 to take over part of Atos, offering €500 million ($525m) for the IT vendor’s HPC, quantum, and artificial intelligence activities. Earlier this month, Atos Group received a confirmatory offer from the French State to acquire part of its former Advanced Computing business.
