European data center firm AtlasEdge is expanding its footprint in Germany with a new project.

The company this week announced plans for a new facility in Leverkusen. LEV002 will offer 4.4MW of capacity across 3,400 sqm (36,595 sq ft). Construction has already started, and the first phase is due live in Q2 2027.

AtlasEdge said the facility is already nearly fully leased.

Formed as a joint venture between telecoms company Liberty Global and digital infrastructure fund DigitalBridge in 2021, AtlasEdge operates regional data centers across Europe. Digital Realty has also invested in the company.

The deal brought together DigitalBridge’s Edge assets and Liberty Global's real estate portfolio, with several of Liberty's telecoms companies as anchor tenants. The company has acquired a number of data centers across Europe over the years, and recently divested nine facilities to European operator Templus.

In Germany, AtlasEdge has eight data centers, operating one each in Berlin, Düsseldorf, and Leverkusen; two in Hamburg; and three in Stuttgart.

The company acquired local operator DC1 in 2022, taking over four facilities. One of those included LEV001, which opened in 2017. Located at Dornierstraße 10, the facility offers up to 10MW across 6,000 sqm (64,585 sq ft).
