Service provider Cogent has set up a new point of presence at one of Aruba's data centers in Italy.
The new PoP is nestled in the company’s Global Cloud Data Center (IT3), based at its technology campus on the outskirts of Milan, Italy.
Cogent's PoP allows Aruba’s customers to benefit from the connectivity firm's network that extends across North America, Europe, and Asia. Aruba will now be able to benefit from Cogent's fiber infrastructure which consists of more than 92,000km of intercity fiber and over 56,000km of metro fiber.
Increase the range
Aruba said in a statement: "The presence of an operator of this caliber... increases the range of carriers available within the Global Cloud Data Center."
The company's 90MW IT3 is carrier-neutral and hosts numerous telecommunications operators. The data center itself has a capacity of more than 165,000 servers and comprises 17,500 sq m (188,000 sq ft) - the entire site covers around 200,000 sq m (2.1 million sq ft).
In 2018, Aruba announced the activation of the Milan Internet Exchange's (MIX) PoP at the company's data center. This meant Aruba's customers were able to exchange traffic locally at the data center with Milan's MIX operators.
