Along with the expansion of its business in the UAE, international provider for temporary power and temperature control rental services, Aggreko has selected Alpha Data, the UAE's leading systems integrator, to provide infrastructure for its new state-of-the-art data center. Alpha Data is deploying Network-Critical, Physical Infrastructure solutions (NCPI) from American Power Conversion (APC), which, when adaptable, are essential to maintaining highly-available and manageable networks. Additionally, system management software provides the overall data center with cooling and environmental monitoring, as well as control, over power and its distribution.
The data center cooling system, provides regulated air flow from under the flooring, air-filtering and temperature control, as well as dehumidification to stop water damaging the equipment. 'Aggreko has a well established depot network through out the Middle East. We have been operating in the UAE for over 15 years now and the current growth, not just in UAE but across the region, is driven by rapid developments happening in the construction, oil & gas, utility and other industry sectors. Our Dubai base is the head office for our international operations spanning South America, Africa, Middle East, Asia and Australia. Due to our rapid expansion, the need to establish a new data center with the best infrastructure solution had become an important matter,' said Derek Shepherd, managing director, Aggreko International.
Shepherd pointed that: 'Traditional computer server rooms usually carry high overhead in terms of TCO and significant risks to businesses. In addition to this, we needed a fault tolerant facility that is scalable, reliable and adaptable to support our growing International business requirements, Alpha Data proposed NCPI solution from APC; and the manageability of the solution being enormous; it suited our needs perfectly'.
