A 4MW data center could be developed in Japan’s central Mie Prefecture.

According to Singaporean AI infrastructure provider SuperX AI Technology, which is developing the facility with three Japanese companies, the 4MW, liquid-cooled facility will be a “pilot initiative” to assess the feasibility of a future 300MW campus.

These Japanese companies include Digital Dynamic, a data center company and GPU provider; eole, an advertising company with interests in the data center space; and Woodman, a data center provider with a focus on green energy.

SuperX AI will participate through its Japanese subsidiary, SuperX Industries Co.

Details about the exact location of the facility were not shared.

Mie Prefecture forms the eastern portion of Japan’s Kansai region, which encompasses the cities of Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe.

Data Center Map lists no data centers in the prefecture. Japan’s data centers are clustered around its main metropolitan areas, chief among them Tokyo.

SuperX AI Technology launched a joint venture with China’s Zhonhen Electric last September to develop high-voltage direct current power solutions for AI data centers.
