Although data is digital, it still requires physical space, and millions of square feet in often crowded metropoles with access to fibre networks connectivity, an abundance of power and water to cool servers. With the scale and pace of the hyperscale data center showing no signs of slowing down, is it possible we could run out of space to house the data center of the future? And, if so, could we look to subsea or outer space for the next ideal locale?
