Panel: Where does the reciprocating engine fit in with Europe’s green ambitions?
The diesel-fuelled reciprocating generator has long been the most common energy backup, with fully-developed repair and maintenance infrastructure, and familiarity of operation. However, as a standby source of power for data centers of the future, it faces increased use restrictions and regulations, and will have to satisfy lower emissions targets. Is there a way to utilise the generators in a way to incorporate sustainability?
This panel will take on the big diesel generator debate, discussing Europe's data center sustainability goals and aspirations, where diesel backups fit into the puzzle, and the suitability of alternative technologies.
