Fireside chat: How is power infrastructure evolving to support data center build?

This episode is available to stream on-demand

It is arguable that lack of available of power is now the single biggest inhibitor to building at scale. With power companies and utility providers in major data center hubs such as Northern Virginia and Silicon Valley struggling to meet demand and projects being put on hold or even cancelled, constructors are looking for new avenues to power the digital infrastructure that our economy depends on.

In this fireside chat, speakers will explore what methods are possible in order to source data center power for new builds in a turbulent energy market. With small modular nuclear reactors unlikely to become operative for some years due to regulatory hurdles and public wariness, how are natural gas engines and fuel cells becoming the onsite power generation source of choice? Will solar and battery energy storage energy systems ever replace diesel generators? And how will the US grid evolve to support the public’s demand for data?
