As data centers reach out across the world to meet increased demand for their services, so the collective environmental footprint is being scrutinized more closely across all aspects of lifecycle and operation. New for 2022, this award will recognize innovation in and commitment to reducing the total environmental impact of the data center.
This includes practices in regard to procurement and consumption of water, equipment, land and other resources, as well as strategies for waste and recycling, circularity, minimization of pollution, advocacy and key partnerships. Every entrant must look to provide evidence of the effectiveness of their initiatives and strategies, before and after implementation, using recognized industry metrics where available.
- All or part of the project or initiative will be operational by 1st September 2022.
- All or most of the key work on this project or initiative has been conducted since 1st September 2021.
- Vendors, consulting engineers and contractors can nominate projects on behalf of their clients and assist in the preparation of the entry, however the primary recipient of the award will be the project end-user/operator. The collaboration of a vendor, consultant or contractor will be acknowledged in publicity associated with the entry.
