Damien Spillane is a senior data centre professional with 20 years’ experience across APAC and EMEA. With a unique combination of technical, commercial and strategic acumen, Damien is passionate about delivering innovative and customised hyperscale solutions for customers. Damien is the Chief Technology Officer at AirTrunk, a leading hyperscale data centre operator in the Asia-Pacific region, that is supporting the growth of cloud, content and enterprise customers. AirTrunk pioneered hyperscale data centres in the Asia Pacific and has since become the largest data centre business Australia by deployed capacity. The company’s third data centre in Singapore is due to open in mid-2020. Damien joined AirTrunk in September 2016 where he led the design for AirTrunk’s pioneering hyperscale model. Now based in Singapore, Damien is responsible for the design, engineering, solutions architecture, energy and connectivity for AirTrunk data centres across the Asia Pacific. Prior to joining AirTrunk, Damien led data centre engineering strategy across the Asia Pacific at Digital Realty. Damien also led the transformation of engineering strategy in the Pacific at APC-MGE, Schneider Electric’s IT business. Damien received his BSc in Building Service Engineering from Trinity College, Dublin and his Diploma in Engineering from the Dublin Institute of Technology.
