Rick Preston

Director, Business Development, Siemens

Rick Preston is the Director of Business Development for Siemens Electrical Protection and Automation in the USA. An Electrical Engineer from NC State University with a focus on Power Systems, Rick began his Siemens career in 1999 in protection and control engineering roles before joining—and later managing—the application engineering systems proposals team.

In 2014, he transitioned into the role of Business Development Manager, where he applied his technical expertise to help customers shape their projects from the earliest stages, providing guidance on protection and control strategies with a strong emphasis on safety. Rick became head of the Business Development team in 2019, a role he continues to lead today.

Throughout his various positions, Rick has supported the data center industry since 2014. His team develops projects in close collaboration with customers while promoting Siemens solutions. These systems, built on intelligent devices connected through secure, fault‑tolerant networks, deliver protection, control, automation, and monitoring across the full spectrum of data center electrical infrastructure.
