Professor Poh Seng Lee (PS Lee) is Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Executive Director of the Energy Studies Institute (ESI). He leads research and translation on sustainable, AI-ready digital infrastructure, specialising in advanced thermal management and liquid cooling for high-density compute, spanning direct-to-chip architectures, cold-plate innovation, and system-level integration that targets improved efficiency, reliability, and practical deployability in tropical climates. His work bridges component-to-facility design, exploring how cooling choices interact with power delivery, controls, heat rejection, and sustainability metrics (energy, water, and carbon). Beyond R&D, PS Lee works closely with data centre operators, technology vendors, and public agencies to de-risk deployment pathways and strengthen ecosystem capabilities through test-bedding, standards, and workforce development.
