KC Mares is President of MegaWatt Consulting. Focused on creating and leading industry-leading data center power solutions, data center site selections, development, design and construction in over 20 countries for hyperscalers, providers, enterprises and supercomputing. Lately developing over a dozen 100+ MW self-generation solutions for data centers around the globe.

Along the way I’ve had many wonderful experiences, including assisting Google with data center projects, leading Yahoo!’s worldwide data center strategy and development when it was the largest Internet property, and consulting roles for many of the most familiar companies in data centers. I’ve enjoyed being part of starting new data center hubs in Washington, Singapore, Northern Virginia, more recently Reno, and even developing the longest undersea fiber cable. I’ve been fortunate to help commercialize new data center technologies and power solutions with Lawrence Berkley National Lab and the US DOE, and chair data center and energy committees and conferences, and work with governors and regulators to create power solutions.
