Evan McAvoy

Director, Business Development, Solar Turbines

Evan McAvoy is presently Director, Business Development for Solar Turbines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, Inc. He has global responsibility for sales, market development, and applications engineering for the Power Generation business.

His prior experience includes Regional Manager based in Brussels, Belgium with leadership responsibility for aftermarket sales & operations in Europe, Russia, and Central Asia, and prior to that, Global Manager of Applications Engineering based in San Diego, California.

Additional experience includes 3 years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as Area Sales Manager - Oil & Gas, with sales responsibility for Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei, Philippines & Cambodia, and 6 years in Tokyo as the Country Manager for Japan, also with Management responsibility for Power Generation Sales in China.

Evan began his career with Solar Turbines at the headquarters in California, in both technical & commercial roles ranging from Applications Engineering to Marketing, Business Development, and Structured Finance.

Evan holds a B.A. from Washington & Lee University, M.A. from University of California, San Diego, and has completed an executive leadership program at Peking University's BiMBA. He is fully proficient in Japanese, with technical expertise in mathematical economics, econometrics, finance, energy systems and the energy industry, both electric power and oil & gas.

Evan currently lives in San Diego, California and is married, with one daughter and one son.
