Vena Nexus, part of Vena Group, has broken ground on the Nexus Yang green data center campus (Nexus Yang), a landmark development in Negeri Sembilan designed to power the next generation of AI and cloud computing in Southeast Asia.

Held symbolically on International Clean Energy Day, the ceremony reflects the convergence of hyperscale computing infrastructure and integrated green energy solutions with flexible, grid-responsive capabilities.

The event was officiated by YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Aminuddin bin Harun, Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan, underscoring the project’s role in the state’s economic acceleration and in the Malaysia Vision Valley 2.0 (MVV 2.0) development corridor.

Spanning 157 acres, Nexus Yang is a hyperscale, AI-ready campus with an initial target IT load of approximately 350MW. The project is designed to support a wide range of compute applications, from scalable cloud services to high-density AI requirements, providing capacity for global cloud providers, enterprises, and hyperscalers across the Asia Pacific region.

The project is strategically located within the NS Semiconductor Valley (NSSV) in Senawang, Negeri Sembilan, following an extensive site selection process focused on meeting the connectivity and infrastructure requirements of a hyperscale, AI-ready data center campus.

Nexus Yang aligns with the state’s industrial and digital economy priorities and benefits from MVV 2.0’s robust resources, including connectivity to Greater Kuala Lumpur and the southern hubs of Johor and Singapore, access to scalable power infrastructure for phased expansion, and a supportive policy environment for advanced digital and industrial development.

Just as importantly, the project leverages Negeri Sembilan’s strong local talent pool, with plans to train and develop local expertize to lead digital and energy operations. Nexus Yang aims to catalyze a thriving hub of engineering, technical services, and research, supporting not only the project itself but also the wider ecosystem of related businesses emerging around the site infrastructure.

The Nexus Yang green data center campus will be delivered in multiple phases, with a long-term capital investment of approximately MYR 20 billion expected upon full build-out. During construction, the project is expected to create more than 140 direct employment opportunities within Vena Nexus in project and construction management.

Construction activities are also projected to generate an average of 600 indirect employment opportunities per phase through specialist contractors and service providers, across the four anticipated phases. Once fully operational, Nexus Yang is expected to support around 190 permanent, high-skilled roles within Vena Nexus across engineering, operations and supporting services, alongside projected operating spending of over MYR 1 billion per annum in local supply chains, contributing to local workforce development and broader economic activity in Negeri Sembilan.

Vena Nexus is integrated with Vena Energy, one of the region’s leading renewable power producers with over 10GW of capacity across Asia Pacific. The two companies share capabilities throughout the development process to design systems intended to deliver a net-positive impact on the grid and on power-demand profiles.

This alignment supports integrated planning of land, infrastructure, and co-located hybrid systems with grid-responsive features, enhancing energy efficiency and providing customers with an embedded pathway to decarbonization.

Nexus Yang is recognised as a catalyst for high-value job creation and supply chain development in Negeri Sembilan and across the country. The project has already begun creating opportunities for local businesses, engineers, and suppliers. Over time, the campus is expected to support an ecosystem around it and enable the establishment of specialised capabilities in engineering, research and development, and business applications .

The project has also received strong support from Malaysia’s digital economy agencies, reflecting its alignment with national priorities for AI-ready infrastructure and sustainable growth.

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) CEO, Anuar Fariz Fadzil, said that the investment reflects Malaysia’s continued momentum in building high-value digital infrastructure to support AI-driven growth and cloud adoption.

Vena Nexus is also advancing its broader Malaysia portfolio, including Nexus Gibbs, a planned 350MW green data center campus in Johor designed to feature a larger co-located hybrid system of solar and battery storage facilities. Together, the two campuses are intended to create a dual-hub network supporting Malaysia’s leading role in sustainable digital infrastructure in the region.
