A woman has been detained after an attempted theft at a data center in Hong Kong.

Staff at One Midtown, an industrial building at 11 Hoi Shing Road, Tsuen Wan, alerted authorities when an individual was spotted in one of the property’s data centers.

Details of the incident are sparse. According to HK01, the woman attempted to steal goods worth around HKD$700 ($89), including a pair of keys, a phone, and some cash.

The identity of the data center operator is unclear.

The property is owned by The Wharf, a real estate developer with business in investment properties, hotels, development properties, and logistics infrastructure in Hong Kong and China.

Hong Kong is a prominent data center market in Asia. Australian data center operator Goodman Group recently announced an AU$4.1bn (US$2.7bn) data center investment vehicle for Hong Kong by way of the Goodman Hong Kong Data Centre Partnership, which will manage six data centers in the city.
