Cloud provider Vultr has announced plans for a 50MW GPU cluster at its Springfield, Ohio, data center.

The "AI supercluster" will comprise 24,000 more AMD MI355X GPUs at the data center.

The AMD Instinct MI335X is built on the 4th Gen AMD CDNA architecture. The chips have 288GB of HBM3E memory, 8TBps bandwidth, and support for advanced datatypes like FP6 and FP4 – accelerating AI training, inference, and scientific simulation.

The expanded deployment builds on Vultr's ongoing relationship with AMD, which has previously seen the cloud provider deploying the MI325X and MI355X GPUs, the latter becoming available in September 2025.

Vultr has also said it will adopt the AMD Instinct MI450 series GPUs and the “Helios” rack-scale infrastructure in the future.

The Springfield data center location is Vultr's first cloud region in Ohio. It has not been stated which data center the cluster will be located in.

According to DataCenterMap, Springfield proper is home to one data center operated by LexisNexis, though this facility is dedicated to law firms. Nearby Dayton has 10 data centers, with Iron Mountain, Encore Technologies, and Lumen among operators. Springfield is also only around 45 miles from Columbus, Ohio's major data center market.

Earlier this year, Vultr secured $329 million in credit financing to help further expand its AI infrastructure and cloud computing platform.
