US colocation company ViaWest announced it was building a large data center in southeast Denver.
Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2014, the 210,000 sq ft facility will be the company's fifth data center in the Denver market. ViaWest plans to pursue the Uptime Institute's Tier IV certification for the facility.
The company is pursuing both local and outside companies of all sizes who are looking to add data center capacity in its home town of Denver.
Nancy Phillips, ViaWest president and CEO, said, “As a Denver-based company for more than fourteen years, we are proud to expand our presence in this region to further serve our existing customers and meet the strong demand we’re seeing nationwide.”
The data center will provide 140,000 sq ft of raised-floor space. It will offer data center infrastructure services and hybrid environments consisting of cloud computing, wholesale and retail colocation, managed services and compliance solutions.
The company recently announced plans for another data center in Minneapolis, which it also plans to complete in the first quarter of 2014. The company opened its Lone Mountain Las Vegas data center in early 2013.
